Airbnb says it plans to temporarily house 20,000 Afghan refugees

Fuck AirBnB. Their model is a shit show and riddled with idiot hosts taking advantage of the customer. Recently stayed in a cabin in TN, that cost $315/night but had nearly $200/night in fees!!! Here was my experience:

  1. Show up… met our friends and unload our supplies fir 4 days
  2. check place out. Nice-ish view
  3. begin preparing first meal
  4. realize their knife (singular) for cutting meat is as sharp as a spoon
  5. pull out my camping knife for remainder of trip
  6. hit the sheets after long first day of driving and meal prep
  7. wake up at 4:30am to the sound of mice under the bed/in the bathroom and squirrels (or some other larger critter) in the space between the upper (main) floor and basement where our room was
  8. day two go get traps
  9. repeat dinner prep with said camping knife
  10. Pest control daily (removal of dead mice from closet, bedroom near luggage, bathroom, etc) Repeat sleepless nights because of critters running through the ceiling

Besides the good company, the experience was shit

I travel the world extensively with my family, and we almost ALWAYS stay at traditional Bed and Breakfasts, which is the best combination of a hotel experience (and expectations on both sides) and local / quaint lifestyle without being in a city center or suburbia.
