Airplane thief that died on suicidal joyride overheard on ATC, “I think I am going to try to do a barrel roll and if that goes good then I am going to go nose down and call it a night.”

For a lot of suicidal people their final hours are their greatest. They've finally let go, they finally see an end to all their suffering. So for the first time in so long they feel that weight lifted and it's almost euphoric. They finally 'understand'.

It's why so many people who know someone who killed themselves will cite something like "He seemed so happy when we last talked! He was laughing and smiling and it really seemed like he had gotten better. This is such a shock."

To quote the article “I got a lot of people that care about me and it’s going to disappoint them to hear that I did this. I’m just a broken guy. Got a few screws loose...” It's so nonchalant. He's come to terms.
