AITA: Are my roommates and I the assholes for playing a “sexist” song in our own dorm?

I'm thinking ESH.

"Ooh the song has a terrible meaning!" Who cares? It was a huge hit, and got a ridiculous amount of radio play. It's not surprising that a lot of people still really like it. As Blue's Traveler said, nobody listens to anything but the hook anyway.

Pumped Up Kicks is about a school shooting. Jeremy is about a public suicide. Semi-Charmed Life is about meth addiction. Alive is about an incestuous relationship. Every Breath You Take is about a stalker. 99 Red Balloons is about nuclear war. Born in the USA is about a veteran returning home after being messed up in Vietnam.

I could probably think of 100 more songs that were top 5-10 hits that have extremely dark meanings.

The only reason I'm going with ESH over a different option is that the girl should never have just unplugged the phone. Actual adults handle that situation by saying, "That song makes me uncomfortable, please skip it", and then you do.
