AITA for 100% refusing to let my dad/mom see my child for something done 10-15 years ago? /Petty

My ex lost his job because he was battling an illness which he later passed from. We were engaged at the time. If he had found a treatment that worked for his illness and gotten better in the end, I’m sure people would have said that my parents were assholes by taking the stance that they did.

Point being, OPs dad operated off of a belief system that if a man 3 years older than his 20 year old daughter was dating his daughter, his daughter was eventually going to be hurt. In hindsight, that wasn’t an accurate call. If OPs parents are apologetic and looking to remedy, it might be time to show some grace and mend the relationship. I don’t know enough from this post to be able to tell if OPs parents are apologetic and looking to remedy.

It sounds like a rough situation to be in, and I wish OP the best.
