ESH, your husband is the bigger AH but you kinda are too for escalating the situation on your son’s birthday. My parents constantly made major events into horrible nights because of fighting and nothing feels worse than watching, what should be a nice time, into a screaming match. I’m getting anxiety stomach just reading this story. You can’t control how your husband behaves but you should have controlled your own reaction. You didn’t need to make him a new dish but you could have stayed calm. I’m guessing this kind of ungrateful and selfish behavior is common with your husband and you’re fed up, but it was your son’s day and I can only imagine how sad he was when this happened.
