AITA for choosing a birthday restaurant where my vegetarian gf couldn't eat anything?

ESH.

The reason she offered to take you out was to enjoy some time and a meal together but in the end she was left out of her own gift to you. She asked you to change the location - which would have been a good moment to compromise, but you were selfish instead. You probably would never have gone to this restaurant with her anyways (since she's vegetarian) so you could have easily just gone with your buddy a different time for a different reason.

She could have been gracious that her gift to you meant that it would suck for her, but it sounds like she was really hurt by your inconsideration. It is already unpleasant if someone's food arrives first and you have to wait a long time to eat - it is worst to sit in a restaurant without eating at all while your table mates eat out of your wallet (again, worst if she was hungry). She is hurt, bitter, taking it out on you.

You two need to sort this out.
