AITA for cutting off the majority of my hair without letting my boyfriend know?

ESH.

His initial reaction isn't the problem, but the way he is acting now is.

You didn't just chop your hair a little bit. You went from your waist to your chin. That is DRASTIC.

You did not discuss doing something that drastic with him. Everyone on this sub wants to go on about bodily autonomy however I bet most have a preference for how their partners hair looks. I personally dye my hair every two weeks, however my partner always knows what I am up to. He has never vetoed a colour, however he does not want me to cut my hair short. I can accept this, because I do not want him to have a man bun! Neither of us would deliberately choose a hairstyle that the other person finds unattractive.

It is shallow, but some men (and women!) do not find short hair appealing on a woman. While you are allowed to discredit this opinion, they are also allowed to have it.
