NTA - I think your plan is brilliant! She’s been thriving within a non-traditional dynamic but wants you to also be traditional in front of her parents. Well, then she needs to do the same. Will she cook and clean everyday? I doubt it.

And here’s the thing: It’s not like you weren’t addressing the hinges and other issues. You didn’t ignore the issues or say you’d get to “one day.” You called an expert in! That’s what you are supposed to do when you can’t or don’t want to do something. It’s not like all the handymen in the world only work for women. Heck, I’d get two good handypersons, make a list of things for fixing, and have them come in quarterly.
