I guess I feel you're inflexible because you can't imagine possibly imagine keeping 2 items of clothing in order to spare your friend's feelings, even when these items actually do perform a useful function? I guess also because you're so convinced you're totally right and logical and you're just talking to the reddit echo chamber in order to validate your perspective instead of considering hers?

I am all for minimalism, I truly am, but the real minimalist choice would be to not have kids at all. If you're having kids, you need to accept that they will acquire their own stuff and it won't be 100% vetted by you - even when they are quite young.
