We talk about racial issues regularly and very frankly, both the pair of us and as a large friend group. I'm actually more sensitive than he is when it comes to what we say around eachother. He's typically the kind of guy who will say anything about anyone and does not care about offending people or being offended, especially as a joke. There's been a couple times in the past I was worried I had said something that might be insensitive/racist and he just laughed about it and reassured me.

He makes fun of "SJWs" and how young people (we are in our late 30s) are so overly sensitive about things and hyper obsessed with being too sensitive.
