NAH, watching my grandparents slowly start to go was extremely difficult. Before the end I found myself actively avoiding them for no reason other than that it hurt too much to see them how they were and not have that person be the same one I held in my memory. A little different than your scenario but I can truly relate. If you find yourself strong enough to make visits that's wonderful, remind yourself that the reason you are there is because of the good times and the love and compassion this person has shared with you. If you can't bear it, take some time to focus on your own happiness, but always try to live a life that you think they would be proud of and reflect the love and compassion they taught you and find solace in that.
