AITA for not wanting to listen to constant throat-clearing while I'm eating?

NTA.

I know this isnt quite the same but my father when he was ill with his brain cancer had several behaviours or things he did that drove me crazy at times.

The biggest one was when he was coming to the end of his life he had raspy breathing when he was asleep, we'd always keep someone in the room with him to make sure he was OK and didn't choke or anything but that breathing was just something that kept me on edge, all the time for hours.

He'd always expressed wanting to be home rather than in a hospital if nothing could be done so it was at home looked after us and a nurse would come by every so often.

If it wasn't for the fact we were so concerned with him being towards the end of his life and wanted to make sure he had us around him at the end then I would have been out of that room all the time just to avoid it.

It wasn't anything personal against him, didn't mean I loved him any less or anything like that but sometimes we just do things that really set off others, whether it is intentional or not, can be helped or not.

I think I'd be exactly the same as you, hearing that all the time I'd need a moment to eat and listen to something else away from it.
