Yeah, that's how minds work. If you talk about something a lot you're realistically thinking about it in some way before talking about it. Why would you even bring up an ex with your current girlfriend? I bring up Metallica a lot but that's because I think about them pretty often. You don't bring something up unless you're thinking about it.

YTA. You can still change and be a better boyfriend but you're gonna need to nip those two (specifically the first thing) in the bud really fast. It's honestly unbelievable that you didn't know it wasn't OK to be commenting on girls directly to her, you might not feel the same way but she does and you're the one causing problems.
