You’re right. I’ve never been to jail, but I have an uncle who’s serving a life sentence. He calls my dad a couple times a month, and receives money from him as often as possible. My dad visits him at least a couple times a year. He wants go more often, but it’s a long drive up there. I’m sure if my dad and his brother could have more time together, they would take it, especially because my dad is one of his only visitors. But this situation is completely different. OP didn’t really know this guy before he went to jail, but all of a sudden she’s talking to him every other day. He’s her SISTER’S husband. Her sister isn’t talking to him for a reason, and her mom has already expressed her disapproval. Shouldn’t that enough to make her rethink all of this? Even in my uncle’s situation, he’s doing just fine with the amount of visitation time he gets, and he was in solitary confinement (not sure if he still is). Idk how much time OP’s BIL is doing, but it’s probably way less time than my uncle, so he’ll survive. OP is definitely out of line.
