I moved from California to Northern Ireland when I was young and all thought my school life people would talk about this to me (not overweight myself). I got so frustrated once that in IT I looked it up and compared California to NI and found the northern Irish are fatter. Still stands true to today actually - California is about 25% obese and NI is 37%.

When our friends came out with one year to LA still remember them asking where l the obese people were as they couldn’t see many and said they saw so many more back in Belfast.

So I guess it really depends what part of the Us you visit and and what part of the U.K. you are in to see some of the hugest people :(
