AITA for trying to make my kids nanny less fun?

NAH. I used to have a nanny like Nelly. She started, and I went from having a preschooler who ate happily and joined in conversation during dinner every night to having one that threw a fit if I didn't do a literal song and dance at every mealtime. It was absolutely exhausting.

On the other hand, Nelly's great with your kids, and making things like chores fun is an excellent practice for all the reasons already named. She seems to really vibe with them, and that's a big deal, especially since you've had trouble with sitters in the past.

The perfect nanny is someone who is a good fit for your family--both you and your kids. You need to decide if this is something you can work with (maybe it's time to loosen up yourself, while also getting her to hold her ground on rules, etc.) or if you can come up with something better and more sustainable for all three of you. Either way, NAH.
