Alabama judge allows man to sue clinic on behalf of aborted fetus

People use this argument a lot, and even though I’m pro-choice, it irks me.

I have a deeply held value; it is my opinion and ethical point of view that murdering random people in the street is wrong. I believe that this ethical point of view should be implemented into law and that people who disagree with me should be forced to conform with it.

Many people who are pro-choice believe that people should be taxed so that welfare can be paid to the poor. They consider this to be an ethical and moral imperialism. Many other people disagree with this idea. But the supporters believe that the dissenters should be forced to partake in this system anyways.

Forcing others to adopt your opinions, values, and ethics is literally democratic government. You can say that abortion is ethically right, and should therefore not be banned; that makes perfect sense. But the argument that “you can believe this is morally equivalent to murder, but you can’t then advocate to make that murder illegal” is ludicrous. Democratic majorities impose their values, opinions, and ethical points of view on dissenters all the time; that’s what democracy is.
