Alchemist redemption part 2: Alchemical boogaloo.

Mutagenist and Toxicologist have similar Math with Quicksilver (Finessed Weapons) and Bestial Mutagen.

Assume same as before with Bestial Instead(w/Feral) of Quicksilver and you have a +24 to Attack vs Average At-Level AC of 33.

  • 10% Crit (3d12+4+2)*2 + 2d10
  • 50% Hit (3d12+4+2)
  • 35% Miss (0)
  • 5% Fumble (0)

Versus a Ranger, also using Bestial Mutagen, for +27

  • 25% Crit (3d10+5+3)*2
  • 50% Hit (3d10+5+3)
  • 20% Miss (0)
  • 5% Fumble (0)

Average Damage-wise:

  • on Crit: Alchemist deals 64, Ranger deals 49
  • on Hit: Alchemist deals 25.5, Ranger deals 24.5

Total that's Alchemist doing an Average of 19.15 versus the rangers 24.5. missing hurts Melee a lot more than Bombs.

This will differentiate a bit more in rangers favor because it's not taking into account second/third attacks and their Precision or Flurry ability.

It also doesn't take into account Flanking which would put the damage a bit more into Alchemists favor because of the higher damage/Deadly.

And this is against an equal level foe, which is a "mini-Boss" in terms of difficulty.

Mutagenist also gets a second Mutagen which you can't really weigh against damage values (at least until they add a new damage one like Energy Mutagen) so it's hard to put an value on it.
