I have all my money in my chequings account. Was recently laughed at by my friends, looking for help to make changes.

If you are TD customer, you can open an account over the phone. I just did 2 weeks ago. The branch kept telling me it'd take 5 business days to open up a simple plain jane RRSP account. BUT!!!! they could open a Mutual Fund RRSP instantly. So I just called the 1-800 number and got them to open a RSP account over the phone. It was easy. The branch were a bunch of fucking idiots.

Now, if I want to invest that RSP, I will open an account at TD Waterhouse. That's the investing side of TD. There you can open up any type of investing account and you will have to set up appointments with them.

A word of caution. Do not dive into this. Take your time, research and get to know what the different products are, how they work and so on. If you're asking these questions, and you're abpout to walk into a bank to see an "advisor", they serve your balls on a platter. So many people do this. They panic because some asshole friend is like "you have all your money in a chequing account, pfffffttttt" and think they have to get into the market tomorrow!!!! Nope, just take your time. Go into this whole money thing informed, and I can guarantee that once you start learning about TFSA's, RRSP's, MER's, Index Funds, ETF's... you'll have a greater knowledge that your dickhead friend.

Go slow, learn, be informed, be confident in your decisions and fuck everyone who tells you what to do, it's not their money, it's yours!!!!!!!
