To all the people complaining about VAC

There are two things I think you're missing:

  1. An increase in the percentage of Overwatch cases that are cheaters doesn't necesarrily mean an increase in percentage of cheaters banned. It could also mean that fewer innocent people get sent to Overwatch. Given how neural networks work (essentially just adaptive pattern recognizition) it seems likely that VACnet only reacts heavily on those that match obvious cheater patterns - meaning only obvious cheaters would be reported by it. This would lead to an almost 100% conviction rate for the simple fact that all the non-obvious hackers (and innocent people) are no longer reported.

  2. Overwatch is not equipped to deal with the amount of cheaters. There are a lot of cheaters. With how ineffective Valve has been at banning them recently, they've grown huge in number. Having them all banned through Overwatch just isn't realistic, with how many times each case has to be reviewed to reach a consensus. An automated or incentivized solution has to be added if Valve wants to get anywhere. Neural networks are great for that - but they need to be trained to a level where they can ban directly, in order to significantly cut down on the workload of actual humans (which there is a shortage of).
