Alligator claw purse

I actually hate this, by the looks of it it is an antique... Its not only awful taste, its terrible execution and real execution of an animal thay has been around since the time of the dinosaurs, a "living dinosaur" if you will.

But its not just that, animals like this are going extinct... For hand bags, gloves, boots and whatever else someone thinks is "cool". This is an animal that is important to an ecosystem, that without them would throw the whole system outta wack and take a long time to balance. It could even cause other animals to go extinct.

Think of it like this, Bees for example, they do a very important job. They spread pollen around to other plants, Wasps do it too but not on the same level as Bees. Now, Bees are on an endangered species list, and if they did go extinct, we would very likely lose alot plants. No ifs, ands, or buts about it, there would be no more flowers given or received, crops would die, animals would starve(I am sure I don't have to explain what happens when anything doesn't get food). It would be an all around shit show.

Now lets take an alligator, a predator. We know that without bees, shit would go south. But do any of you know what happens when a predator gets knocked out?

Herbivore population booms.

Naturally there should be more herbivores then carnivores, but not too many. But with a population boom of herbivores that's just bad. I know what your thinking, "But Grey, if there are a lot of herbivores wouldn't that be good for the carnivores?" No, not by a long shot.

Remember what I said about the Bees going extinct, what would happen to the plants? Something similar will happen, instead of the plants dying out, they are now being over eaten. If all the herbivores eat all plants, what do you think happens? Take away any food source, animals start dying.

Okay, we got a population boom of herbivores, the carnivores cannot keep them in check as carnivores only kill when they are hungry(mostly). The herbivores have now eaten all their food, and they start dying. Do you know what happens to the carnivores?

If you guessed that they would start eating the dead herbivores, you are only part right. What happens what the herbivores eat the last of the dead herbivores? Or the dead herbivores decay to the point where it would make the carnivores sick? Well, that food source is now gone, remember what happened to the herbivores when their food source disappeared? Same thing. Carnivores will die.

The ecosystem is like Jenga, sure you can knock out some pieces, but take the wrong piece or too many and the whole thing comes down. The ecosystem should be like a full tower of Jenga, but because of human involvement there are a lot of pieces missing. If wr are not careful, we are going to knock that tower down.

Sure, we might survive, but we would lose so much beauty in our world. So next time you think something like this is cool, just remember that they have a job to do, a job that is important. A job that they didn't even die for, dying for a 'fashion statement' that could easily knock down the ecosystem.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk
