No, they didn't. There was looting. There was arson. There was protests that got out of hand and violence, yes. But two, three blocks of violence in a city is not "the city burning down". I had friends in Seattle who said you could live on Cap Hill and not even be aware of the CHAZ thing. I lived in LA and on the very worst day of looting you could be two blocks away and not even know what's going on.

I think people who live in small towns see two, three blocks of violence and 300 people rioting and think it's huge because to them it is, in a 800 square mile city with millions of people it's barely noticeable.
