Almost 90,000 dead and no hint of national mourning. Are these deaths not ‘ours’?

From the CDC

Each year, nearly 900,000 Americans die prematurely from the five leading causes of death – yet 20 percent to 40 percent of the deaths from each cause could be prevented, according to a study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

So that's 180,000 to 360,000 premature deaths every year which could have been prevented, and aren't mourned. What's another 90,000 from COVID-19? /s

American culture has never valued preventative health measures, citing "muh freedom" over healthy living which respects both yourself and your neighbour, especially if it's mandated by government. You guys own this.
