Almost anyone who complains about life in North America only does so because they have been sold an unrealistic image of life in other parts of the world. It would never live up to their fantasy.

Yeah of course compared to some other countries like north korea we look like the preferred choice. Of course I am grateful that I don't live under the same regime that people in north korea do. But why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't we better the U.S? Saying there should be no complaining/it's a stupid goal to ask for more is basically saying, shut up and take what you have. I think what is unrealistic is the illusion that america is just the greatest place to live/that it's fine like it currently is. It's not fine. We're dying, sitting in our own fucking puke and circle jerking each other off. How can any country call themselves the greatest and yet recoil at any sort of progression? It sounds like you're the one living in a fantasy world frankly. It sounds like you don't want it to change.

A week ago, I was laughed at for calling my friend, who had the opportunity to get the vaccine, but didn't, selfish. My friend said "please respect that this is my body. I ask for your respect as a friend. If you can't respect my choice on what I do or don't put into my body then leave me alone."

I don't have a problem with him having a choice, he just made a dumb fucking selfish decision. Americans live like the main characters. We're hardly the greatest In anything. Not to mention we are the worst in alot of things. Police brutality is up there. When you say things like this you contribute to the social conditioning of "america is god" rhetoric and pretty soon you have some goateed 40 year old dude who puts a hole in the wall when his sports team loses proposing a culture war when presented with the information that black people are disportantely being killed by police.

So yeah. I'm gonna complain. Why is just shutting up and not complaining the more patriotic thing to do? Wouldn't it be more patriotic to advocate for more for your country?
