Born and raised in Virginia Beach, moved to sell my soul to a health care giant that shall remain unnamed. For those who never venture past the Oceanfront area, Virginia Beach can basically be described as a bunch of shopping plazas with 1970s cookie cutter housing. Originally, like most beach kids, I was hoping to migrate up to Nova, but found it to be too expensive.
Things that I enjoy -The overall size of the city -Being able to take walks downtown and other areas (and find parking) -The people -The cheap cost of living (compared to VB and NOVA) -The fact that I actually have a chance at buying a house. -How responsive the efforts are as to keeping the roads clear in the winter. -No personal property taxes on vehicles (Don't miss that $400 bill, nope.)
Things that are meh -White people, holy crap. Pittsburgh is the only city where I've actually felt a little weird being brown. I've encountered situations in which I was the only brown person in the whole establishment. That's a really awkward feeling, but mostly a me thing rather than a city thing. -Slow people in the fast lane, y'all are killing me. -Braking in the tunnel (I though I had escaped this from VB, lol) -Your state inspection prices are too damn high! (I miss the $20 for VA) -Your DMV is a joke.
