Whether it's a joke, a passing comment, a retweet, a sharing of a political opinion, a flirt, a sexual advance. Why is this?

It's overshoot from society before not really caring at all about women's comfort but now it's more or less society only cares about women's comfort.

Here's a situation I often find myself in. I am walking home from class or work. I cross the street and there's now a woman ~20 feet ahead of me on this sidewalk. Common wisdom suggests that I should cross the street again or sometimes twice to walk on the other side of the road so that she doesn't feel comfortable. I don't do this anymore for a few reasons.

Imagine how well this usually goes down especially when I am talking to other women. I usually don't explain myself because I don't feel the reason why but for context of the internet, this is why:

I am a black guy and people are always going to be suspicious of me. It's also not my responsibility to modify my benign or misunderstood behavior to make people feel safe. Also, a lot of people roll red on right turns where I live and I am blind with my left eye so it has resulted in me almost getting hit and have send have me need emergency neurological surgery again.
