Its Always Sunny > Beyonce

The point of music is not to be complex. The point of music is to convey a message or a feeling. Every time metal is brought up in a thread people argue about it being complex and that's their only arguing point. That perspective seems really shallow, liking music only because it took more technical skill to create. Musicality is what I appreciate in music, the artist's ability to know exactly what they are doing and why they're doing it, I can't stand the acoustic guitar singer people because they just copy the chords from other songs and write some generic lyrics over them. I don't know a whole lot about metal, but I assume there is a lot of musical knowledge going on in there, and the ability to use that knowledge proficiently really creates a better sense of awareness in a song. People shit on jazz a lot because they think it is boring and I can understand why that is, and it's because when people think of jazz they think of early swing era and that honestly is not all that exciting. There are many many different genres that can be described with the word jazz, and in every single one, you'll find people with amazing amounts of knowledge of music and how to use it. When a group of skilled musicians come together, they know how to use the style they are playing to make it sound good no matter how simple/complex it may be, by improvising and making the music sound like how they believe it should sound. Most people listen to vocal music and don't ever learn to appreciate the music behind the vocals, so the musicianship doesn't to much affect them, and that's why pop, and some metal is so popular, because it's all about what the singer is saying and who is the singer and how attractive they are.
