Am I about to build a McMansion?

Why are you going out of your way to construct a home that is so conventional and banal? I’m not seeking to be cruel, but there are 100s of these types of houses with slightly different variations all over the place. The house (or at least the digital model) has no relationship to the surrounding context which looks to be a lovely forest of some sort. There is no interaction between the living spaces of the home and the individual rooms. There’s no consideration of a landscape or climate around the house and how that may play into how one lives in the space in terms of light, air, and seasons.

This isn’t a question of style and finishes. I’m questioning why you would take on the considerable task of building a home when it doesn’t have any consideration of how your or your family live your lives and the place in which it’s situated.

I know some critique from some random internet architect stranger (that’s me!) comes off like some jerk who wants to crap on your dreams. But I think if you really question how you make this house yours, you could create a piece of architecture instead of just another suburban single family home.

Take my opinion or leave it, it’s just that: an opinion. But if you’d like me to pull some inspiration projects to link you to, I’d be happy to.
