I am afraid to ask and answer questions in lectures

That’s not true it depends how you sound aswell as where you’re placed in a lecture. I’m in 1st year and I’m always in the back or middle. Usually there’ll be 2-3 people willing to answer out of all the audience (never heard anyone asking something). For instance in front they’ll sound clearer to the lecturer and he’ll repeat what they said to us it also works faster. Some speak loud and we can hear them. Some are just shy and they’ll say one word or speak quietly. I don’t mind anything as long as they don’t have the attitude to outsmart the lecturer or stick to their own thought after the teacher himself says it’s wrong and they generally waste time, those are the only ones I’d not like, if that’s what you care about. Usually they’ll say something close to the answer or a viable possibility (I study CS) and that’s enteraining to hear so don’t be ashamed to express what you’re thinking.

The other day in a lecture absolutely no one interacted and the lecturer himself tried to encourage us hard by pointing his finger up and down the rows of seats and patiently waiting for someone to speak. No one did and I felt like the lecturer himself lost energy to speak lol. It’s good to have some people speak in lectures don’t think twice.
