Hi there! Literally 2 days ago I had a similar problem with my boyfriend. Long story short he just wanted to go fishing every night after work and I wouldn’t be able to go because priorities. Anyways after about 4 days of fighting he finally understood what I needed...

I think us ladies have no issue with putting aside our wants/needs for our lovers and it’s not always reciprocated (men please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)...

I can easily put myself in your shoes and say with all positivity that there is NO possible way that we could function if he proceeds to go to burning man. Too many cons to even consider it being ok (drugs, insecurities, financial). Maybe take the time to write out the pros and cons together after a nice dinner. Hopefully it’ll be clear to him that this decision he’s (trying) to make will not benefit your guys’ relationship.
