I am a (drunk) Wells Fargo lead teller. AMA.

Are they ok with this? Do you guys really have a secret police button in case of robbery? Have you ever been robbed?

Not going to be revealing any wells fargo secrets, so they won't really care. We do have a robbery alarm, at each window, and in some other key places, but we don't use em until the robber leaves. Presumably they have to pay out more if an employee gets blasted in the face than a few thousand is missing, so they prefer to keep us alive.

Are you in the US? What do you do for a living? What is your salary? Do you like your job? What do you wish you were doing?

Yup, in the US. I basically am a teller that has slightly higher limits for accepting deposits/withdrawls and negotiating holds. I make around $16 hourly. I don't like my job. I wish I was doing anything else while I finish college, and am probably quitting. The sales culture is completely draining and transparent.

I've had a ton of weird stories. One time a lady said she was going to kill me (and the branch), so we had to call the cops on her. She was clearly very mentally ill. We have a surprisingly high amount of people hit the poles in the drive through - it always makes for a good laugh.

My favorite genre of customer is the sob story customer, who has multiple overdrafts, and has a hold placed on their deposits. They start talking about needing to feed their family, etc, etc, but then you look into their accounts a bit more and you see frequent cash withdrawals (while not proof by any stretch of drug use, most people don't withdraw cash), and stops at the liquor store daily.

Right now I am going through life to finish school. I moved away from home and I am not really finding many friends in the area. I moved from a big city to a smaller one, and I am not adjusting that well. I only have about 1 year of school left. What keeps me going is the trips back home, and vacations.
