I am that dude that knocked out the tatted up jerk in 20 seconds. AMA!

I also said you can increase strength without increasing body weight.

A proper LP takes maybe 4-6 months to literally double people's strength, and does not require you to neglect your training

These two things are true for untrained novices, but they become false very quickly. Unless you're claiming that an MMA fighter who squats 400 could squat 800 in 6 months without interfering with his training at all and without gaining a pound of weight. I certainly hope that's not what you actually believe...

I mean, think about what you're saying. Doesn't Rippetoe recommend not even doing serious cardio on your off days if you're a beginner on SS specifically because it will interfere? If running a few miles will interfere with strength training, then MMA training will interfere even more.

I mean, I agree that doing leg extensions for 100 reps probably doesn't have a lot of application in MMA. But your last paragraph really comes to a vague definition of the word "strength."

It almost seems like you're thinking about this like an RPG. Oh, I just do a "strength" exercise, and it increases my overall "strength" level, and then I'll be stronger in all movements no matter what they are. That's not how physiology and athletics work. There are tradeoffs involved that you're not acknowledging.

The best way to get better at doing a movement is to do the movement. That shouldn't come as a shock to you. Olympic wrestlers are better at double leg takedowns than powerlifters, even though powerlifters have stronger legs in terms of squatting. Why? Because they drill double leg takedowns all the time. Yeah, squatting is kind of related to double leg takedowns, but it's not like adding 10 to my squat will translate into having a better double leg 1-to-1. It definitely doesn't work like that.

If having a bigger squat increases my muscle size and causes me to gain some fat, then I might not be as explosive or as agile and it might make my double leg worse.
