My stepdaughter was a figure skater as a child. She grew up working her craft before and after school to compete. She is now just 26 and has been running to keep herself in shape. She is at her fittest and best weight and it trying to get in shape for a half-marathon later on this year. She also busted her ass to get through training to become medical professional and will continue with adult schooling to earn her bachelors degree just because it is part of her plan. Yes, she is pretty and attractive on the outside but mostly she is beautiful on the inside. As a teenaged skater I was standing there when a random skater mom approached her at a competition one time and just had to tell her how much she appreciated how beautiful her performances on the ice were and more importantly, how she was such a beautiful person off the ice, and an inspiration to her daughter and all the other kids. She then turned to my wife and said, you should be so proud of the daughter you have raised.

I actually felt really awkward standing there because I never experienced praise like this but then learned how it is handled when they both said to the mother, with shining eyes and smiles, "Thank you!"

So there are really beautiful people on this planet. Don't be afraid to let them know how you feel. Because the real ones will appreciate it.

BTW. I really felt justified for all the mornings where I took her to the rink and waited until she was done, then drive her to school at an understood 10 minutes late, before I hurried off to work where I was 10 minutes late as well. My reward had always been to get to watch artists perform on for 50 minutes before I started my day.

I used to tease her because her footwork on the ice could be so beautiful that it brought tears to so many people watching that I said she was a meany making all those women cry.
