I am kind of ashamed of owning a Tesla, which makes me sad.

This is actually a good point that I think bears thinking on. Every major company, no matter what they make or what service they provide, are almost assuredly doing SOMETHING that is morally objectionable to a large number of people.

I feel like the difference is in how you can look at, say, Honda, or GM, or Mattel or General Mills, and while you know the company probably does some shady stuff, there's not one highly visible mouthpiece for said companies who has become synonymous with the company.

Most companies are quick to distance themselves from an employee / executive who come out with contentious stances in public. It makes me wonder if Tesla's stance on Musk and his antics are holdovers from the years gone by when he was a 'cool' figure like Steve Jobs. Dictating to the market what they wanted, and how to be cool like him. How to think different and disrupt the market.

Since he's gone off the rails with his childish response to new pushback to his ideas, I wonder if Tesla is, sooner or later, going to 1985 Steve Jobs him right into the NeXT big thing for Musk.
