I have this friend. He came from literally a one bedroom shack out in the sticks. Punk rock dude, worked in the cotton gin as a kid, not a stranger to hard work. Became a courier on long, rural routes, and about the late 90s started listening to talk radio on those drives. First it was Rush. Now it's Alex Jones, Hannity, you name it. It's.. amazing to hear the garbage he spews, while decrying "Well, I don't even like Trump, but..." Had an hour long argument on the phone because "Fuck black lives matter, all lives matter! All they do is just clog up the bridge when I'm just trying to get home and have a beer! Fuck them! I work my ass off and all they do is collect welfare.." and then went down the road of white people are shot more than black people, etc etc etc. And then the anti-trans rant. It's gotten to where I still talk to him, but I keep the topic strictly on things like music and food or friend drama gossip, but that's it. I've flat out told him (as have others) that if 18 year old him met him today, 18 year old him would kick 10 shades of shit out of him. Dude, we fought the fucking skins in high school and now you're backing the Proud Boys? Jesus, it's hard to watch.
