‘I am not a drunk’: Female passenger in cabbie sex assault case responds

Haven't noticed anyone blaming the victim. I just see people discussing some facts. The phrase rape culture has gone too far, maybe I'm niave but I've never run into anyone in all my journeys that doesn't think rape is literally the worst thing ever. Nor have do I see this being promoted.. like really? People throw the word around without regard. However, I'm not a woman, and don't have experiences with men wanting to screw me and the actions they take, so I could be totally wrong. Just my opinion.

Fact, the world is full of terrible people, it is also full of good people. I wish bad things didn't happen, but they do, and this is why I look out for myself. That doesn't mean people shouldn't be safe, they absolutely should be, but there is also reality.

People can't stand to look at facts when discussing topics that are emotionally charged. Happens all the time. Judges have to. People say that someone who is intoxicated cannot consent, imagine the prescedence that would set. All of a sudden you basically can't have sex with anyone when "drunk" otherwise you may risk one party or the other charging you for sexual assault. People can consent when drunk, they cannot when severly intoxicated to the point of passing out.

Bottom line, none of us know all the details, but everyone's screaming like their a pro judge and know all the facts. Judges aren't there to make decisions based on popular opinion or with emotions, they are there to look at the facts and in our court system it needs to be absolute without a doubt. But people don't like that. If there is doubt, or other viable scenarios, a judge can't rule guilty. That doesn't mean this cabbie wasn't guilty. I certainly cannot say he was or wasn't, but it sure seems like he is.
