Unfortunately, your suggestion puts the onus on the “victim” for lack of a better word versus the other person. Sometimes a suggestion isn’t needed but instead, solidarity. There are plenty of folks who don’t go around assuming people are certain things in certain situations. Also, you can’t be absolutely sure there’s nowhere in the PNW that doesn’t act like this because I’m sure there is some member of a marginalized community that wholly disagrees.

Also, Oregon was founded on the basis of banning black people and giving massive amounts of land for free/pennies on the dollar to whites families to prevent any other group from establishing residence. -isms exist everywhere.
