Am I the only one who cringes when people use baby powder to bake under their eyes?

Honestly, people should use whatever (or no powder) just as they wish. Baby powder may or may not work for people depending on the person's skin type and tone, but there is nothing inherently dangerous about baby powder. The link between talc and cancer is tenuous at best (one reference: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3621109/). Perhaps the link between cancer and talc was more valid back when talc was mined differently and was possibly mixed up with asbestos, however currently used cosmetic grade talc does not have asbestos (as per the FDA testing/purity standards used by talc producers). Talc may be associated with certain inhalational lung disease but this is really an issue for miners/industry workers and not for the lay person applying makeup (and remember that smoking/exposure to cigarette smoke is a far more common cause of lung disease). The bottom line is there is not good evidence that cosmetic grade talc used as would be routine for cosmetics is dangerous. This being said I would not use baby powder to bake because it make my brown skin ashy looking.
