"I am rational, my opponent's argument is emotional"

Don't argue policy when they argue immorality, it will lose in most cases. Instead break apart their statement and show how is is wrong. like if it is also hurting people if their policy goes through, or show how it isn't immoral, or you can bring up how empathy is bad in politics. (because if you look at specific viewpoints only, like someone who would be dead if not for healthcare, you are looking at a biased viewpoint and not looking at the impact on the rest of the nation), or you can bring up enough facts to show without a reason of a doubt that they are wrong, them add more facts after that to be sure you can change their minds, or you can show how their policy is flawed and how to make it better for both parties. And you don't have to disagree with them 100% (because I have had people try to argue with my viewpoint and expect me to fight it), and don't let them use the minority to exude the majority like if they argue rape cases in abortion say "first let's talk about the 98% of abortion that isn't rape or incest, and I will talk to you about the 2% if you agree that the 98% of abortion is wrong.
