I am Senator Bernie Sanders. Ask me anything!

Hi Senator Sanders,

Thank you so much for doing this. I really respect your attempt to answer real questions of people who might not get a chance to ask at a town hall. I supported you in 2016 but am still unsure about the upcoming election. One issue I believe is very important, yet have rarely heard you (or any other Democrat) discuss, is tribal sovereignty.

I would like to know your platform for promoting decolonization in the United States. More specifically, do you support the decision of Cherokee Nation v Georgia to designate indigenous nations as dependent, domestic nations, or should this be overturned in favor of an approach that recognizes them as completely sovereign nations? If this did happen, should the United States return certain land to these nations?

Furthermore, does the fact that the supreme court exercised jurisdiction over what at the time was a foreign nation contradict article 6 section 2 of the constitution which states "all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land".

Again, thank you so much.
