Exactly, my friend plays a lot of FPS games and has a 5800X with a 6800 XT on a 24" 1080p/144Hz monitor. Seems like overkill, but maintaining a solid 144 FPS with basically no drops at high or max details is tougher than it looks, even at 1080p. He says games like Warzone, Apex, or other games with really far render distances are the hardest to get steady FPS in, but "smaller" games like Destiny 2 are easier to run because there isn't as much to render. He does some streaming and does some 3D rendering in I think Maya? Not sure which program he uses for his 3D stuff but he went for a higher spec than really necessary to help get the most consistent performance.
