Am i wrong for arguing Norway was founded in the viking age?

Yes.

Norway joined the Kalmar Union with Denmark and Sweden in 1397. After Sweden left in 1537 they remained in the union with Denmark as a colony in all but name.

Denmark ended up on wrong side of the Napoleonic wars and In 1814 Norway was ceded to the King of Sweden in the treaty of Kiel. Norway declared it's independence and adopted a constitution but it was not recognized by any foreign powers which supported that Norway comply with the treaty of Kiel.

After a short war with Sweden, Norway entered a personal union with Sweden which lasted until Norway unilaterally dissolved the union in 1905. A military conflict was nearly avoided. This is accepted as the birth date of the modern Norwegian state. It was briefly suspended during the German occupation (1940-45).
