Amazon is killing pack n' ship stores. What can we do?

If we refuse to accept Amazon drop offs, people will bitch at us. If we refuse to tape up boxes, people will bitch at us. If we do either one but charge for it, people will bitch at us. If we provide guidance that leads to a return getting all screwed up, people will bitch at us. If we don't dedicate a large portion of the store to the storage of large warehouse-type Amazon items, people will bitch at us.

Can you name any other business that does so much for no compensation? I realize that restaurants that serve water for free do so on their own dime, but we're not exactly talking something as essential as water here. These are items that people decided they didn't want, and suddenly they want to cheap out at every corner. And who picks up the tab? We do.
