AMD chief Lisa Su confirms new high-end GPU; “we will be competitive in high-end graphics”

This is where the disconnect is. The major disconnect. The GCN arch was always designed for Async Compute, with full DX12 support being added along the way with revisions. The reason you seem to miscomprehend the difference is that the Maxwell/Pascal cards are pure raster performance. This is the reason you make the false correlation here:

This statement literally has absolutely nothing to do with anything and vindicates absolutely nothing you've said. What does that have to do with Turing and your Vega 64 "nipping at the heals of a 2080"? It will be nipping at the heals of the 2070,

Forza & BF1 use Async which is a strong point of the Vega arch, whereas SotTR and AC Odyssey don't. You can see this by comparing the 1080 and 1080Ti results to the 2080 and 2080Ti results too. Not just Vega there. Vega benefits from Async and DX12 as does Turing. Pascal doesn't.

they don't use it because it's not always useful.

I mean you literally think this is a huge win, wow that's fantastic so you managed to save $15 a year on your power bill by having lower power draw on your 1080 vs a Vega. Amazing mate. Stunning. Notice how they aren't banging the power efficiency drum with Turing though, or Intel with the 9900K...

power draw? You don't even understand what TDP is about do you? You're like an AMD fanboy talking points regurgitation bot.

Notice how they aren't banging the power efficiency drum with Turing though

You mean the 754mm2 GPU with the same TDP as a GP102 and 30% higher performance on a slightly tweaked 16nm node? What was your point again?

The reason I call you a fanboy is this very reason. You can't discuss this reasonably without being a dick to the opponent.

you forcably inserted yourself as an "opponent" because you are a rabid fanboy who saw something unrelated and decided to make it about you and how smart you are for buying an inferior product. It's irritating as all hell. I'm a fan of whats best. I'm not trying to make excuses for an inferior architecture like you are.

s a result all GCN arch AMD GPU's will see the benefits of future optimisation for Async compute that will come with Nvidia pushing it forward. I have no illusion's that Nvidia are the market leader and currently the main push for feature uptake. The benefit will be seen for all AMD cards using Async compute going forward though.

yeah, we were hearing this same song and dance with Polaris release too, and we're still seeing just as few games with utilize it. By the time it exists with any regularity, you'll be upgrading your GPU.

Funny thing is it's not partisan. It's just how the tech world works and with the rant above you truly cemented your fanboi status with team green. Still not sure why you muster such hatred though. You really don't like AMD from you wording.

I actually have no issues with AMD other than their recent stagnation. What I do have a problem with is ignorant fanboys injecting themselves into an unrelated discussion to spew the same disingenuous and ignorant bullshit we've been hearing for years now. Your talking points are the same, verbatim nonsense you rabid AMD fanboys were spewing at Polaris release. It still hasn't happened yet, and isn't happening any faster than it was 2 years ago.
