Vega is not a total disaster, it may not be great for gaming but AMD has developed a whole system around it to work fantastically in the data center and supercomputer arena.

As for your other points, this is how it's been for years, AMD cards not being the best and using more power but people keep buying them and AMD has kept chugging along.

AMD is losing its marketshare. Also, AMD used to have better GPUs until Nvidia caught up.
