I was considering to just wait for the 3950X and then get it with a 2080 Super. And I'll be honest, looking at those new handsome X570 motherboards... one can only get so erect... they're just awesome.

But you gotta be rational when shopping for hardware. If the reviews say 9700/9900 is still where it's at for gaming then I feel like that's something to take seriously. Again, I'm an idiot and I don't know much about hardware, but I'm trying to educate myself by listening to ppl smarter than me. You're probably right in saying that the basis for comparison somewhat changes at those ultra high resolutions.
