Amend Speeding Ticket

You are very wise to know about this and ask about this.

ALWAYS do your best to "fix" speeding tickets. I am not sure what that various city laws are in the area, but I think some cities now allow you to "fix" some speeding tickets on your own, while other cities require an attorney. You should do some looking online or ask the city or ask here or ask around about how it works. If people claim you can fix it on you own then call the city and ask how to do that.

If it requires an attorney, look for the most affordable one, and then get some type of guarantee that it was fixed, pay them with a check (which you should photo copy before sending)(also photo copy the ticket) and afterwards make sure it was properly fixed. Then keep the documentation in your glove box in case you are ever stopped and they (for some reason) say it was not "fixed", at least you will have something to show them.

"Fixing" a ticket means the violation is reduced to something like a vehicular defect., for instance a broken speedometer. You will have to pay the same or more of a fine but it will not (should not) casue points to be added to your moving violation record.

You can look up what points are and why they are bad, but basically your insurance rates will sky rocket if you have too many points. It is best to "fix" the violations when you can, so if/when you have something else happens and you can not "fix it" you are not suddenly are in a very bad situation, like having your insurance canceled, losing your D.L., having you insurance rates go through the ceiling, etc etc..

For a long I have viewed getting a speeding ticket as something that will cost me $150.00-$300.00. I have fixed 2-3 tickets over the years and now I do my best to not get speeding tickets. I have not had a speeding ticket in a long time, knock on wood, which is probably good for me and everyone.
