I used to think that there was no way we could end up on the road to totalitarianism. Not in the US. Not ever. Not here. Why? Because eventually, people would see that the traditional American values were being undermined by corporate interests and a political party that didn't hold anyone's best interest in mind except themselves and their pockets. Surely America would realize this and put a stop to it.

Then, I started realizing that the Republican Party and its most fervent constituentsgive zero fucks about the tenets of democracy. They've done and will continue to do everything in their ever increasing power to ensure their agenda is locked, bolted, and secured -- making it impossible for dissidents to formulate any opposition and overthrow the regime.
