American Bully puppy

Been there, done that. Yes, of course he was cute as puppy. Puppies are adorable. But he grew up, rambunctious and energetic, I loved that guy. Until that day. One day I was playing in our backyard with him (I was a teen), the garbage man drove down the alley and he went full on cujo on me. Snarling, teeth bared, low, angry growl, lowered head, glaring at me. I stared in shock until he lunged at and I made it inside with him pulling on my arm, trying to drag me to the ground. I'll never forget the switch, he went from the dog I loved to a dog I didn't know.

I went back inside my house and I never felt safe with him again. We thought about the safety of our family, our neighbors and that was that. We rehomed him within a week, something I wouldn't do today (shelter). And, honestly, I didn't cry. I wanted him gone. Because there was something clearly, deeply wrong with him.

You have a lot of responses here saying the same thing. There are a lot of great dogs, why risk the safety of yourself and your children with a known ticking bomb? Puppies are cute, true. But he isn't going to stay a puppy. Be smarter than this. I wish I had been.
