Yup. Had an acquaintance who was riding a moped through Bangkok in traffic. He got mad a decided to ride on the sidewalk where he accidentally knocked over one of the grills that cooks those fish balls. No biggie, but he got an attitude (yes, drinking was involved prior) and started arguing with everyone. I tried to intervene, but said fuck it as he was not really someone I was willing to get in trouble over. The police came, and he was still raging. They hauled his ass off and spent the next 3 days in jail until he could come up with the money to pay for the grill, moped, and other things he destroyed. It kind of added up because people not involved made statements how their merchandise on the sidewalk was damaged, which some of it was bullshit, but others were legit. They wouldn't accept a credit card, so another friend of his had to get cash wired in from his parents. In total, it was over $5,000 in cost to get him out, and a very hard lesson learned. As soon as he got released he changed his return flight home to one for the next next day. lol... He was an idiot that a lot of us didn't like, so it was kind of justice / karma that it happened to him.
